A SMART INTERACTIVE ROBOTIC TOY FOR AUTISTIC CHILDREN TO PLAY, LEARN, AND DEVELOP THEIR COMMUNICATION SKILLS
OVERVIEW
Emoco is a tangible interactive smart toy that can assist the autistic children to improve their communication, social interactivity we have designed a smart toy that consist of various sensors and tangible buttons options which can keep the autistic children to be more engaged with one particular work. Issuing forth behavior by communication between the toy and the child by changing color, emotions and playing songs The functions in the toy can make the child to learn, play and interact emotionally. The workshop result shows the interest and engagement of the children with the smart toy is more than the toys they play in their routine life. Our future work is to build extend this robot’s feature with artificial intelligence to assist in them in their parents voice.

Problem
Considering the user research and workshop conducted, the main issue faced by the children with austistic behaviour is lacking in social behaviour and communications. They have emotions and social feelings but they dont know to express it. It love to play with tangible toys or things which has sensory functions in it.
38% wants to play with tangible and touch feel toys, colorful, sensory functions, musics
42% wanted to see themselves in screen or video. they are more excited in recording their own video
20% more introvert and they disconnect themselves with others, even from their parents. they consider their toys as their friends
